Unearthing The Treasure
Psalm 42; Matthew 13:44-46
Reading Psalm 42 this morning, my heart is full as I consider that in my lap I hold the very heart of God. All of His desires and intentions are here written in the pages of this Beloved Book that we so often lay aside as we dust the tables in our homes. Think of it…God’s thoughts always right here, not to mention His very Essence living inside of us~ His precious Holy Spirit. The richest of deposited spiritual treasures is right here in this very room, in my hands and in my heart. It is the Pearl of Greatest Price, and yet has cost me nothing, other than the time I have given to search it.
Direction, purpose, provision, intention are all here in my hands hidden between the pages of God’s Word…waiting only to be discovered when its covers are opened. Oh, how the Holy Spirit can make it live on the inside of me as He pours it like water into the parched places of my life! And I pray “Father, make it live! Weave Your Word into my heart like a strong and beautiful tapestry that only becomes more and more valuable as it survives through the years.” It is matchless in its intricacy and its Author is a Master Writer and Artist…full of delightful surprises.
The more I discover about Him through what He has written, the more He simply overwhelms me. There are no words for Him that seem to come close to all that He is. Still, my heart overflows with worship in response to such a beautiful God! And though it seems inadequate, I will spend my lifetime using every word and every note I can create to speak of all that He is to me. I love Him so much! He is what I live for!
Continuing to look for Him, the heart of this psalmist cries out: “My soul longs for You, O God, and for the day when, having unearthed the treasures of Who You are in the pages of Your Word, I will finally see You face to face!”
Until faith becomes sight, we are still Seeking…
